Director Of Student Services-College of Pharmacy-Student Affairs

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  The Director of Student Services will lead the overall student services enterprise for the Doctor of Pharmacy program and will supervise the Coordinator of Students Services, Knoxville campus, and the Coordinator of Student Services, Nashville campus. The Director of Student Services will closely monitor and evaluate student services trends across the academy of pharmacy and will recommend new initiatives and priorities as a result. The Director of Student Services must embrace data driven strategies and must be committed to continuous assessment of all student services activities. This position will be responsible for all student events housed in the Office of Student Affairs in the College of Pharmacy and will work directly with College of Pharmacy Student Organization leaders.  Additionally, the position will be responsible for ensuring that all student advisement activities are conducted as outlined in the Office's student services policies in regards to wellness initiatives, as part of the early intervention program, or upon the request of the student.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of a variety of student services, student programs, & special projects within the Office of Student Affairs.
  2. Responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the P1 Orientation, including working with appropriate campus office and selecting and training student orientation leaders.
  3. Responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the P1 White Coat Ceremony, P3 Pinning event, First Generation student reception, Dean’s List receptions and other student related events.
  4. Responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of Commencement, including working with the UTHSC Office of Student Affairs and Community Engagement.
  5. Planning, development, & implementation of a variety of student services, student programs, & special projects with the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, Dean, and other student affairs support positions.
  6. Conduct advising meetings with assigned students in the college as directed as a wellness initiative, as part of the early intervention program, or upon the request of the student, or for students in crisis, refer students to appropriate campus resources based on their individual needs, follow up with concerning students as defined by college of pharmacy student services protocols and document advising sessions and track student outcomes.
  7. Responsible for maintaining official College student listservs and approving moderated messages.
  8. Responsible for working with Pharmacy Student Government leaders to develop, implement and manage the Pharmacy Weekend programming.
  9. Assist the Assistant Dean for Student Success in the development, implementation, and oversight of Career Day events and coordinate on site staff support for the events at all three campuses, in providing licensure information and support to graduating students and with Pharmacy activities.
  10. Document and assess outcomes of activities and goals, conduct and assess quality improvement activities related to student services and prepare related reports for student services activities.
  11. Provide support for all College of Pharmacy Admissions Days as requested.
  12. Perform other assignments as requested by the Associate Dean for Student Affairs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred); at least five years of related professional experience in higher education is required. At least three years’ work experience in student services, advising and/or event planning within higher education, experience supervising staff, and experience advising and counseling students is required, experience with student services or advising in Graduate level Health Sciences and experience with assessment and continuous quality improvement processes preferred.  (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
