Manhattanville College is seeking a Director of Financial Aid. The Director is a member of the enrollment management leadership team.  The primary responsibilities include complete oversight and management of day to day financial aid operations provides insight to best practices for automated services, and will lead the distribution of student financial aid for all undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral student populations. The position reports to the Vice President of Admissions & Marketing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with members of the enrollment management leadership team, develop a comprehensive financial aid leveraging model in line with the goals and mission of Manhattanville College.
  • Work directly with the Vice Presidents of Finance and Admissions to develop the institutional aid budget and monitoring of the tuition discount rate.
  • Direct supervision of professional staff (3 – 4) and student employees (4 – 5).
  • Strategic plan for developing financial aid resources as an additional tool for recruiting and retaining students at the College.
  • Identify and implement technology that will automate services for the processing of aid.
  • Overall management of institutional merit and need-based aid programs.
  • Partner with the division of advancement to automate and refine the process for endowed scholarships.
  • Develop a financial literacy initiative for the current and prospective student populations.
  • In conjunction with members of the enrollment management leadership team, develop a comprehensive financial aid strategy in line with the goals and mission of Manhattanville College.
  • Oversight of the institution-wide verification process and procedures.
  • Submit various required Federal, State and Institutional Reports including FISAP, Common Data Set, NYSED, IPEDS, NCAA DIII Annual Report.
  • Oversee Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), Return of Title IV funds financial aid processes, and TAP Certification process.
  • Maintain a close working relationship between the Registrar, Student Accounts, Controller, Student Affairs, and Admissions offices.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Demonstrated and significant experience in financial aid, involving progressive responsibility, including staff supervision.
  • Must be able to speak in public in front of a large, diverse, audience.
  • Able to handle difficult situations and conversations calmly and effectively.
  • A demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive community.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree
  • 5 – 7 years of financial aid work
  • Experience with financial aid operating systems (Colleague and Slate)
  • Available to work some weekends and evenings
  • Spanish or Multilingual a plus
  • Previous experience in higher education
