The College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) is uniquely positioned as interdisciplinary and entrepreneurial research and education leader for the 21st century. CCI’s two departments, Information Science and Computer Science, complement each other to offer trailblazing research and education, driving innovation to the digital future. CCI has seen substantial enrollment growth, has recruited 18 new faculty in the last two years, has introduced new programs in Data Science, HCI/UX, AI and Machine Learning, and Business Information Technology (joint with LeBow College of Business). CCI occupies two-and-one-half floors in a brand-new building, constructed in 2019, offering state-of-the-art classrooms, labs, meeting areas, collaboration spaces, and a maker space. With a commitment to further expand the College and grow in key areas of strength, CCI seeks intellectually curious and rigorous candidates to engage in cutting-edge research and teaching.

The Department of Information Science in the College of Computing & Informatics at Drexel University invites applications for two tenure-track and tenured faculty positions at the Assistant Professor and Associate Professor levels. Preference will be given to applicants in the areas of Usable Security and Privacy and Artificial Intelligence for Health Sciences . We encourage applications from candidates with an interest in using these areas of expertise to solve socially relevant problems.

Job Summary

A successful candidate will possess technical expertise appropriate for their areas of research and will be comfortable and committed to working in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. The applicant will be expected to establish a high-quality, high-impact sponsored research program, teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and advise and mentor Ph.D. students. Tenure-track faculty are expected to provide service to the Department and University commensurate with rank.

Essential Functions

Establish and maintain sponsored research.
Teach undergraduate and graduate level.
Advise PhD students.
Provide service to the college and/or the university.

Required Qualifications

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Information Science, Computer Science, or a related field by the time of appointment. Zero to 20 years’ experience. Record of high-quality scholarly activities. Must be able to work with individuals across a spectrum of disciplines both internal and external to the College. Candidates must be able to work with individuals across disciplines both internal and external to the College. The Department is particularly interested in individuals with a history of promoting diversity through their teaching, research, and service. Applicants for senior positions are expected to have demonstrated exceptional leadership in large-scale, multidisciplinary research programs. Professional or industry experience is valued.
