The School of Education at Jacksonville University seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Education position with an anticipated state date of August 2022. Candidates must have: an earned terminal degree in Education, including 18 graduate hours in developmental processes of early, emergent and adolescent reading/literacy, and 18 graduate hours in teaching second language acquisition; classroom teaching to include elementary school and university levels; and valid State of Florida teaching certificate in elementary education.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate level English as a Second Language (ESOL/TESOL) courses, and developing and teaching Reading/Literacy courses to include a reading lab, supervise school-based field experiences, and advise undergraduate and graduate students.
Essential Job Duties- Teach undergraduate and graduate level English as a Second Language (ESOL/TESOL) courses
- Develop and teach Reading/Literacy courses to include a reading lab

- Advise undergraduate and graduate students.
- Must participate in college and university service
- Develop research portfolio
- Mainly indoors
- Some off-campus travel may be required
- Work is performed under minimum supervision and requires incumbent to exercise independence and discretion
- Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and scientific equipment
- Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens
- Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone
- Earned terminal degree in Education.
- 18 graduate hours in developmental processes of early, emergent and adolescent reading/literacy
- 18 graduate hours in teaching second language acquisition
- Valid State of Florida teaching certificate in elementary education
- Classroom teaching to include elementary school and university levels
