Monmouth College, a selective, private, residential liberal arts college in Illinois, invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Music as Assistant Professor and Director of Instrumental Activities, to begin August 2022.

The successful candidate will direct the Monmouth Wind Ensemble and Concert Band and will take an active role in the department’s instrumental recruiting activities. Teaching responsibilities will depend on the candidate’s areas of interest and expertise and might include teaching applied lessons, music education courses, a course in orchestration and arranging, courses in the college’s General Education curriculum such as Music and Global Cultures or the History of American Music, or directing the Monmouth Jazz Band.

Required: Ph.D., D.M.A., or other appropriate terminal degree is required for a tenure-track appointment and rank as assistant professor. Preference will be given to candidates with substantial professional experience in wind ensemble direction. A commitment to the liberal arts and an appreciation for the small college learning environment is essential. The candidate should excel at working collaboratively and collegially with others.

Located in the welcoming community of Monmouth, Illinois, the college is a member of the prestigious Associated Colleges of the Midwest.
