Executive Function Learning Specialist (Part-Time)

Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.
Position Summary:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching and promoting success among a diverse student population. Reporting to the Director of Accessibility Resources, the Executive Function Learning Specialist will provide comprehensive executive function support to students with disabilities and students identified by faculty in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. In alignment with the College’s goals to increase the success and retention of all CTE students, Specialists will identify student needs and goals and create a plan to develop the executive function skills needed for college success. One part-time position (maximum 18 hours per week) at the Wellesley Hills and Framingham campuses. Location and/or remote options for this position may be changed on an as-needed bases based on COVID-19 concerns and governmental guidance.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Assist students in the development of executive functioning skills to succeed in college, including, but not limited to:
  • Help students navigate the transition from high school to college, including managing college-level work load and expectations;
  • Assisting to navigate syllabi and expected institutional software and technology;
  • Help students develop an organizational system to complete assignments on time, manage and prioritize daily/monthly assignments, plan ahead for long-term projects and prepare for exams;
  • Establishing goals and milestones with students related to their core academic skills, including meeting with tutors, class attendance and consistent check-ins to assess the plan;
  • Develop strategies for success including note-taking, test-taking strategies and study skills;
  • Help students develop strong communication and self-advocacy skills;
  • Utilize technology to accurately track student progress, maintain student files, and keep student records;
  • Provide academic success and career-related workshops that focus on skills such as (but not limited to) time management, study skills, college readiness, self-advocacy, goal setting, and professionalism;
  • Outreach to prospective high school students;
  • Various projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology or closely related field; with three (3) years' experience and/or training involving special education, academic coaching, or executive function coaching; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $30.03 hourly rate
