Description:
Charleston Southern University invites applications for a
full-time, tenure- track Public Health faculty position beginning
January 3, 2022 or August 1, 2022. The 10-month faculty
position is for the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor in
Public Health and is commensurate with experience. Charleston
Southern seeks candidates who are professing Christians, and are
committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship. and service. They
should support the goals of a strong liberal arts education and be
willing to explore with students the integration of faith and
learning.
Responsibilities: The
successful candidate for this position must be able to teach
undergraduate courses spanning the five core competencies of a
Public Health curriculum, including Social and Behavioral Sciences,
Health Policy and Management, Environmental Health Sciences,
Epidemiology, and Biostatistics. The course load is 12 credit
hours each semester, fall and spring. The selected
candidate will be responsible for course duties including, but not
limited to: (a) creating the course syllabus, preparing for and
presenting quality course content, (b) preparing, administering,
and grading course assignments, projects, and tests, (c) submitting
midterm and final grades by given deadlines; and (d) maintaining
course records and reporting data for accreditation purposes.
Additional responsibilities include student academic
advising, student organization advising, department and campus
service, and professional development. The candidate should
have a passion for teaching and an interest in mentoring
undergraduate student research.
Qualifications: Candidates
with an earned doctorate from an accredited institution in Public
Health, Health Sciences, or a related field are preferred.
Candidates with a master’s degree or currently completing
their terminal degree will be considered at the rank of Instructor.
Candidates must have evidence of quality, college-level
teaching experience as well as professional experience in the field
of Public Health. Current CPH or CHES/MCHES certification is
desirable.
