The University of Bridgeport is seeking candidates for the position of Full-Time Faculty- Counseling . The University of Bridgeport, Master’s in Counseling program is committed to educate, develop and train students to serve a multicultural society as counselors and professionals in community, corporate, organization, hospital and school settings. The department provides students with a quality educational experience in counseling and college student affairs preparation through classroom teaching, clinical practice, supervision and scholarly research. We are dedicated to providing evidence-based training to create career opportunities that benefit the students and the community they serve. We are committed to ethical and effective counseling and require our students to adhere to the American Counseling Associations (ACA) code of ethics. As an institution that delivers challenging and high-quality educational experiences to a diverse group of learners, the successful candidate must demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity and gender issues. The successful candidate may be asked to teach courses in a distance-learning format. This position is located in Bridgeport, CT.
Duties to be performed:
At a minimum, the essential functions of the instructor are to:
- Teaches and supervise a 12 graduate credit hour course load per semester in the graduate program in Counseling program with a focus on evidenced based mental health counseling.
- Supervise graduate students in Counseling at field placement sites in collaboration with the Practicum/Internship Coordinator.
- Mentor a full load of advises in counseling, including registration, future career goals, and licensure and graduation requirements.
- Prepare candidates for state and national license examinations and/or certification requirements.
- Liaison with community agency and mental health partners.
- Serves on and participate in University and departmental committees.
- Actively participates in recruitment, and retention of new students.
- Assist in maintaining CACREP accreditation standards.
- Maintain professional identity and commitment to counselor education (i.e., participation in ACA and/or its divisions)
- Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to develop professional degree programs.
- Doctorate from a CACREP-accredited program
- Connecticut State license (LPC) or eligible
- A minimum of three years of work experience in the field
- Nationally Certified
- Demonstrated skills teaching in traditional University classroom and on-line environments
- Demonstrated track record of positive teaching outcomes
- Bilingual
- Teaching and/or clinical experience working with children and adolescence
