Job Description:

The Department of Education at Salve Regina University is pleased to announce an opening for a tenure track Assistant Professor in the area of Elementary/Special Education beginning Fall 2022.

Within the context of the University Mission, Salve's Teacher Education Programs develop in students a desire to seek wisdom and to promote universal justice. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate successful teaching experiences and a commitment to working toward equity and justice. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in curriculum, social studies, classroom management, special education at both the elementary and early childhood levels, and to supervise relevant clinical field experiences. Culturally responsive teaching, representation of historically marginalized groups in course content, and a record of sociocultural consciousness are imperative. Other expectations include program development in conjunction with the Elementary/Special Education Program Coordinator. The successful applicant will be required to collaborate with departmental faculty as well as design and conduct research studies and mentor undergraduates.


Requirements:
  • Ph.D or Ed.D in the area of Education
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in Elementary or Special Education, in public school contexts
  • Strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and teacher education
  • Capacity to develop a program of independent research that includes mentoring original undergraduate research
  • Ability to communicate effectively in speaking and writing, use technology in teaching and learning, and work collaboratively is essential
  • Record of culturally responsive pedagogy, antiracist education, and representation of historically marginalized groups in course content
