Dean College's School of Liberal Arts is looking for a dynamic,
experienced, student-centered educator to teach Human
Biology lab during the spring semester. The College seeks
Adjunct Faculty who focus on experiential learning and active
engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean
create a compelling and professional learning environment for
students of diverse learning backgrounds.
We are seeking an 1-2 adjunct instructors for BIO180: Human
Biology (Lab). BIO-180 is a 4-credit class with lecture and lab
meeting separately during the week. The adjunct pay rate is $2134
per lab section. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold one office
hour each week for each section they teach. Lab instructors work
under the direction of the lecture faculty member. The curriculum
for the course has already be designed by the biology faculty.
The course description is as follows: Students will explore the
basic science of human biology. Students will have the opportunity
to understand how the human body responds to external influences of
diet, physical activity, infectious pathogens, alcohol, drugs and
stress through the reading and evaluation of basic research
studies. Laboratory activities will augment lecture topics and will
culminate in the completion of a capstone project involving the
design, implementation, and evaluation of a personal fitness

- A Master's degree in biology or related discipline area is

- College teaching experience preferred, particularly experience
teaching first and second year undergraduates;
- Strong computer skills, the ability to access the Internet, the
college's online resources and website and a willingness to be
responsiveness to students via digital tools is a requirement;
- Experience with or willingness to learn Canvas, our learning
management system, and classroom media is necessary;
- The successful candidate will possess expertise in
learner-centered teaching; use of technologies and/or strategies to
enhance pedagogy and the ability to work effectively with a
culturally diverse student body with a variety of learning
