SUMMARY:
Colorado Mesa University's Center for Teacher Education invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Teacher Education. The person in this position will teach both undergraduate and graduate course work in an educator preparation program. As part of the standard teaching load, two of the semester credit hours are allocated to coordinate programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. - Teaching secondary pedagogy courses as well as science and/or
math methods courses.
- Coordinate and supervise field-based experiences (some driving
required).
- Coordinate and recruit for undergraduate/graduate
programs.
- Maintain an active program of scholarship commensurate with a
teacher-scholar model.
- Perform student advising duties and service
contributions.
- Contribute professionally to the undergraduate and graduate
programs in the Center for Teacher Education.
- Summer teaching may be required.
- The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester;
some assigned courses may be taught on-line, hybrid, or via
distance delivery modalities. Scholarship in the discipline,
involvement with advising and service to the department and
profession are expected.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED: - Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, Education Leadership,
or a closely related field. (ABD with proof of anticipated
completion by August 2022 will be considered.)
- At least three years (full-time) of grades 7-12 teaching in
math or science within the last ten years.
PREFERRED: - Post-Secondary Teaching Experience.
- Experience working with edTPA.
- Online instruction experience.
- Current teaching license.
- Recent scholarship activity
