Job Summary:

The Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) in the College or Letters & Science ( https://cae.ls.wisc.edu/ ) provides an enriching, inclusive community and engaging academic support for ~400 students admitted to the CAE program, as well as additional opt-in students. CAE's focus is on supporting students who have been historically underrepresented in higher education, including Black, LatinX, Native Nations, Southeast-Asian, first-generation and low-income students.

CAE engages students through proactive academic advising, peer tutoring programs, community-building and wellness events, mentoring and access to High Impact Practice Programs, starting with the Summer Collegiate Experience (SCE).

The Programming Coordinator provides administrative and logistical support for CAE student programs, and spearheads student activities. These programs include SCE, Wisconsin Welcome orientation for new students, an annual career conference with SuccessWorks, STEM Runway programming, a junior year Capstone program, and an annual graduation celebration. Ongoing activities throughout the academic year are provided for community-building and student development outcomes. The person in this role develops and manages the CAE programming calendar to provide a cohesive experience for CAE students throughout their time at UW-Madison, ensuring program goals and learning outcomes are met. The Programming Coordinator assists in the coordination of and contributes to the CAE communications and marketing plan, which may include managing email communications, developing the weekly CAE email newsletter, social media posts, website updates, and creating posters, fliers and other publicity materials for student programs, events and activities. This staff member also hires, trains, and supervises the student staff who manage the CAE front desk and advises and supports the CAE peer mentors, who organize peer-led student activities.

Education:

Qualifications:

-Experience working with and supporting underrepresented, low-income, and first-generation students
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills
-Ability to lead, develop, and contribute as part of a team
-Ability to collaborate and coordinate across the different CAE work groups and with other department and campus partners
-Excellent time management and organizational skills
-Experience planning and implementing student programming in a higher education setting
-Experience supervising, training, or mentoring undergraduate college students
-Ability to learn and navigate university administrative processes and manage budgets and purchasing
