The Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at
Harvard University seeks applications for a preceptor in Classical
Hebrew Language. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1,
2022. The preceptor will be responsible for teaching five courses
per academic year, participating in curricular development, and
training and supervising teaching fellows. The position is three
years, renewable for a term of up to five years (eight years
total), contingent on performance, enrollments, curricular need,
position availability, and divisional dean authorization.
Basic Qualifications:
The successful applicant should have an advanced degree in a field appropriate to the position.
Additional Qualifications:
Experience and demonstrated excellence in Hebrew language teaching at all levels (elementary to advanced) is preferred. Ability to teach Historical Hebrew Grammar, as well as to offer introductory courses in other Northwest Semitic languages (e.g., Ugaritic, Canaanite Dialects, or Aramaic) is highly desirable.
