Job Summary

The Bursar's Office at University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for an Administrative Assistant II! This position exists to assist constituents in person, by phone, and in writing and is focused on delivering high-quality service. This position will provide excellent customer service, assist with account reconciliation, manage the email inbox, and complete special projects. This is a part-time on call position, which will work during the months of August, September, January, and February to assist with peak times of need.

Who We Are

The mission of the Bursar’s Office is to efficiently enable and assist students and departments in meeting their financial obligations, with a focus on financial integrity and accountability! The Bursar’s Office is responsible for the management of key university financial resources and records and acts as a central collection point for university receipts.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Client Services
  • Interact with a variety of people and provide information in response to inquiries, concerns, and requests. Resolve complaints as needed.
  • Interpret tuition and fee accounts applying ISIS, CUBill&Pay, spreadsheets, and departmental websites.
  • Troubleshoot system issues when errors or problems are found.
  • Keep records of client interactions and update the system of record when needed.
  • Explain and educate on how to: view and print bills, make payments, alter health insurance options, and applying for the College Opportunity Fund if relevant.
  • Provide information on the process of disputing tuition and fee charges and financial implications of withdrawing from the university. Direct requests and unresolved account issues to the appropriate resource.
  • Make decisions regarding past due balances on student accounts based on extenuating circumstances, credit history, and risk to the university.
Account Reconciliation
  • Reconcile student accounts to validate the appropriateness of charges based on inquiries or through reporting.
  • Analyze enrollment activities to match charges and credits to the account.
  • Report errors as appropriate and follow through on problem resolution and account adjustments.
E-mail Management and Special Projects
  • Share responsibility for management of the Bursar e-mail process by deciphering and researching information, completely and accurately responding to customers, transferring identified emails to pertinent departments and using consistent language in compliance with FERPA.
  • Create email templates for more efficient and consistent information. Provide quality control when others are answering emails.
  • Coordinate document management for Student Billing.
  • Research the accounts on various systems as needed.
  • Complete special projects as assigned such as assisting the department by coordinating the flow of tuition dispute petitions, researching lost refund checks, and assisting faculty/staff with the tuition waiver benefit program.

The hourly rate for this position is $17.04 - $17.38.

What We Require
  • Must be a Colorado resident at the time of application.
  • Two years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.
  • Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.
