The Department of Mathematics at Colgate University invites applications for a tenure-stream position in statistics at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning fall semester 2022. Completion of the Ph.D. is required prior to, or shortly after, the date of hire.

The Department of Mathematics is excited to announce our search for a statistician who will contribute to curricular development in our upper-level statistics curriculum, mentor student projects, and support our current offerings in statistics. The successful candidate may have research interests in some area of Bayesian statistics, time-series, statistical learning, biostatistics, and/or computational methods, though all areas of statistics will be fully considered. All Colgate faculty participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.

A cover letter, curriculum vitae, 3 current reference letters, a research statement and a teaching statement must be submitted through mathjobs.org . At least two letters should describe the research skills of the candidate and at least one should describe the teaching skills of the candidate in detail. The application should include a description of how the candidate’s scholarly interests, broadly defined, can engage undergraduate students either by encouraging their interest in, or by directly involving them with, the research process.
