The Department of Middle Eastern and South Asian Languages and Cultures (MESALC) at the University of Virginia invites applications for Lecturer in Hindi language instruction.  Duties include teaching three Hindi language courses per semester. May also teach Urdu language courses. Courses taught will include (but are not limited to) elementary, intermediate, and advanced level language courses. Must also serve as academic major and minor advisor for department students and actively contribute to departmental service and to the vitality of the language instruction.

Required Qualifications:

Candidate must hold a master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Hindi language, Hindi literature, applied linguistics, or closely related field. In addition, candidate must be fluent in Hindi, Urdu, and English.  Candidate must also have 2 years of Hindi language teaching experience.
