Research Specialist

Location: Moscow

Division/College: College of Science

Pay Range: $17.64 per hour or higher depending on education and experience

Full/Part Time: Full Time

Position Summary:
The research technician position in the Johnson lab will analyze protein activity and protein interactions in yeast cells. Duties include overall lab maintenance (ordering, maintaining lab media and supplies), supervising undergraduate researchers, and conducting experiments and analyzing data.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in field of biological sciences - Following pre-established procedures or protocols
- Analyzing scientific data
- Keeping complete and accurate records
- Working in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- Bachelor’s degree in field of biological sciences
- One year of research experience
- Experience with research lab operations and organization
- Experience working with bacterial or yeast cultures
- Experience working on independent research project(s)
- Ability to execute and complete tasks on time
- Knowledge or experience of protein techniques, such as SDS-PAGE gels, immunoblots, immunoprecitation
- Experience with molecular biology procedures (including PCR, qRT-PCR, bacterial transformation and culture, plasmid purification, cloning )
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with protein purification or protein mutagenesis
