Job Description
The Department of Statistics at Virginia Tech (https://www.stat.vt.edu/) seeks applicants for an Instructor (non tenure-track) position. The successful candidate will be part of the Statistics Department’s instructional team, delivering a wide variety of undergraduate courses ranging from introductory to advanced courses that serve our undergraduate majors, this may include teaching in the Computational Modeling and Data Analytics program (https://www.ais.science.vt.edu/academics/cmda.html), Virginia Tech’s data science undergraduate degree. Additional duties may include coordinating and updating undergraduate courses taught by the department.

The initial appointment will be for one semester, beginning in the Spring of 2022 with the possibility of continuation dependent upon performance and availability of funding. Duties will include teaching undergraduate courses in Statistics and Computational Modeling and Data Analytics. Instructor duties center on teaching four courses per semester.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will have
• An MS. in Statistics, or a related field, with a minimum of 20 semester hours of graduate courses in statistics.
• Experience in teaching Statistics at the college level, online and in person.
• Fluency in the statistical programming language R.
• Effective communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• An MS. in Statistics, or a related field, with a minimum of 20 semester hours of graduate courses in statistics.
• Experience in teaching statistical aspects of data science.
• Documented effectiveness teaching in a curriculum, like that offered by the Virginia Tech’s Statistics Department, designed to serve the needs of a large, diverse group of university students in engineering and the sciences.
• Ability and experience in teaching advanced undergraduate courses.
• Potential to contribute to the department’s curriculum development.
• Experience with using statistics in a professional or consulting setting.
