Job Description:

The College-wide Director of Veteran and Military Services is responsible for overseeing and managing all veteran and military student services to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations. This position initiates, develops, directs, coordinates and manages College-wide policies, procedures and services pertaining to veteran and military students. Directly supervises the functions and personnel that provide services to veteran and military students.

Duties & Responsibilities:

•Manages and monitors the College’s compliance with Federal and State regulations as it pertains to all veteran and military student issues
•Develops and coordinates programs and services related to veteran and military students
•Develops College policies, procedures and related forms based on state and federal laws and regulations
•Monitors and has direct responsibility for the veteran student budgets (Fund 2 accounts) college-wide
•Works in conjunction with the Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) Director and Maps to Credentials procedures to maximize awarding of military credits for veteran students
•Serves as the College liaison for Veterans certification processes and all military personnel programs, and also performs official certifications of veteran student records and maintains all VA certification records
•Establishes and maintains relationships with the local agencies for the purpose of providing services to veterans and military students

Minimum Requirements:

•Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with course work in an appropriate field, and four (4) years of experience in student services; or Bachelor’s degree and eight (8) years of administrative experience in student services
•Comprehensive knowledge of Federal and State laws and guidelines for veteran and military students
•Comprehensive knowledge of State of Florida residency issues and military and veterans affairs
•Ability to understand, analyze and interpret Federal and State laws, financial reports and legal documents
•Ability to respond effectively to complex inquiries and complaints from students, Department of Education and other regulatory agencies such as the VA, faculty, staff, and other members of the community
