Design
The Drexel University Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design is dedicated to the education of students in the areas of design, media and the performing and visual arts. The Westphal College offers 17 undergraduate and eight graduate majors, housed in award-winning, technologically enhanced facilities, and taught by distinguished faculty who have worked at the top of their fields. The College values a studio approach that incorporates six months of required co-op work experience for all undergraduate students. About Screenwriting and Playwriting
The Screenwriting & Playwriting program offers a four-year undergraduate degree that guides students in their pursuit of a career writing for the entertainment industry. Under the leadership of our professionally-engaged faculty, the program emphasizes the principles of dramatic writing through a practical, hands-on approach to instruction. Our graduates take away the skills, experience, and confidence to gain an edge in a rewarding and competitive field.
Our curriculum emphasizes the mastery of core skills through the iterative process of drafting and rewriting while maintaining focus on unique student story-telling perspectives. We are open to all modes of entertainment writing, regardless of the particular media format. We strive to empower students to tell their own stories in the most successful manner.

The Screenwriting & Playwriting program seeks applicants for an Adjunct, part-time position with expectations for inspiring teaching and contemporary industry expertise.
Essential Functions
- Teach a required number of credit hours per quarter based on contract
- Teach studio, lecture, and/or practicum courses based per contract
- Plan and provide instructional experiences that reflect an understanding of the philosophy, objectives, and curriculum of the Screenwriting and Playwriting program
- Evaluate student achievement of curricular objectives/outcomes
- Maintain communication with the program director regarding any course or student issues
- Perform other similar duties as assigned
- Bachelors degree required, advanced degree preferred.
- Established track record of professional achievement. Ideal candidates are writing professionals with a demonstrable track record in their field of specialty, such as playwriting, screenwriting, television writing, etc.
- Ideal candidates should also exhibit fluency with the current industry and be able to articulate a vision that integrates the disparate demands of writing across various segments of the industry.
