Job Description

Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), located in Reno, Nevada is seeking applicants for a Professional Development Manager.

Under the direction of the President, the Professional Development Manager is charged with developing, delivering and maintaining high quality employee learning opportunities. The Manager leads strategic development of programs that promote professional growth and expertise among administrative and academic faculty and administrative staff, in alignment with TMCC's vision, goals and Strategic Master Plan. The Manager is responsible for development, planning, implementation and evaluation of professional development programs across the College, as well as preparing and maintaining all budgets, records, reports and other documents associated with this work.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree from and accredited institution.

2. 4 years of experience organizing and delivering professional development or another related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience in Higher Education. Teaching experience.

Responsibilities:

Candidates must exhibit an appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds.

Program Development Offerings, Activities and Events
  • Serve as resource to TMCC campus for program and organizational initiatives by -
  • Acting as coach/resource to the President's Leadership Team on matters of staff and organizational development.
  • Collaborating with academic and administrative faculty, classified staff and College leadership, perform periodic needs assessments to identify and inform the design of high-demand, timely professional development programs.
  • Planning, developing, designing, organizing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating events and activities annually, to include but not limited to:

A coordinated program of high-quality PD offerings; Professional Development Days; Classified Symposium; Leadership initiatives, as needed.
  • Providing New Employee Orientation/onboarding, training and on-going professional learning opportunities for classified staff, administrative and academic faculty.
  • Coordinate college-wide, community focused events such as a Holiday Party, Awards and Recognition Ceremony, and other events as requested.
  • Coordinate state-wide conferences and other large-scale events, as requested
  • Monitor and assure compliance with all training required by state and federal laws and regulations.

Marketing
  • Collaborate with Marketing Communications & Web Services to develop and create written and graphic outreach materials.
  • Maintain website currency and smooth operation of training registration system.
  • Communicate training opportunities using campus-wide resources.

Budget Management
  • Assume fiscal responsibility for the management and implementation of assigned budget.
  • Manage and monitor professional development expenditures.

Maintain Professional Network
  • Represent TMCC at local, regional, state and national meetings, conference, etc.
  • Maintain professional relationships across the NSHE system, other educational entities and throughout the community.
  • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in adult education, training and professional development.

Manage Resources
  • Maintain the cleanliness and function of the physical training room.
  • Offer access to a variety of digital/virtual/online resources for professional growth.
  • Manage the online mandatory trainings and associated reporting system.

Supervision:
  • Hire, train and evaluate staff, as needed, to include Student Workers.
  • Monitor trainers for qualify/effectiveness.

Other Duties as Assigned

Salary Information:

$60,314, annually, and placement is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

This is a soft funded position, renewable contract is contingent upon available funds.
