Building Environmental Services Technician - Housekeeping

Primary Purpose of Position:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide housekeeping floor care services in assigned locations; remove items from assigned location for stripping and waxing VCT floors or cleaning carpet and replace item once job is complete; sweep and dust mop all VCT floors; mop up all stripper on floor, go back and re-mop before putting floor finish on to assure that all stripper have been removed from floor to create the best possible finish; floors should have the prescribed number of coats of wax and make sure that it is applied correctly; keep all equipment clean and in assigned storage locations; equipment, storage areas, and janitor closet clean.

Minimum Education/Experience:
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Special certification may be required for some of these positions.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate must possess a working knowledge of cleaning practices; knowledgeable of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and their purpose in addition to how they are used in housekeeping; ability to perform heavy to medium physical work; knowledge of buffers, carpet extractors, floor scrubbers and wet vac; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form; ability to multi-task in addition to bending and stooping frequently; ability to follow written instruction; great interpersonal skills.
