Primary Purpose of Position:
This position provides supervision and leadership to the multi-craft maintenance staff which provides maintenance and repair to building facilities. This is a highly skilled supervisor with experience and proficient in the operation and maintenance of the majority of the following trades. Examples of these trades are HVAC, steam, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, hot water boilers, along with coordination of general building mechanical maintenance. This requires close contact and coordination with engineers, architects, and technical personnel in conjunction with meeting the needs of our campus community.

Minimum Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Optional Guidelines: Experience in the Trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate must possess a working knowledge of applicable local, state and national building codes; knowledge of program theory, techniques, practices and procedures; knowledge of the assigned program area; knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations governing the program; knowledge of agency/university practices, procedures and principles; ability to establish a culture of safety for employees and ensure that work processes are free from safety and health hazards, that employees are properly trained, and programs are in place to ensure safety; ability to ensure an interview process that selects candidates based on demonstrated competencies; ability to recommend pay adjustments based on competency development; ability to work with employees to identify individual strengths and weaknesses and recommends developmental activities; ability to set specific, measurable and realistic performance and competency expectations for staff.; ability to oversees the zone mechanical systems including HVAC, electrical and plumbing; ability to monitor, document, and resolve performance management issues through formal and informal discussions and procedures; ability to lift up to 60 pounds; ability to work independently with little or no supervision; to take initiative to see projects and assignments through to completion; to learn, interpret and analyze information to make necessary decisions; to exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving; to plan, prioritize and organize workflow; ability to work flexible schedules; excellent analytical and organizational skills along with written and oral communication skills. A valid driver’s license is required.
