Scope of Job:
We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley's diverse student body as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Department of Economics beginning in the 2022-2023 academic year.

The position is a full-time three-year contract with possibility for renewal. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field by the beginning of Fall 2022. We seek dedicated and excellent teachers intent on improving student success, preparing exceptional professionals in Economics, as well as continuing the tradition of promoting the social mobility of our students. Experience of teaching Economics in higher education in a culturally diverse setting is strongly preferred. We are a Hispanic-serving institution located in South Texas near the US-Mexico border.

The Robert C. Vackar College of Business and Entrepreneurship is AACSB-accredited at the graduate and undergraduate levels and offers a Ph.D. in Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Management, and Marketing.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field prior to the start of the Fall 2022 semester and must provide evidence of teaching effectiveness and research potential.

Discipline Specific Required Qualifications:
Applicants must have earned at least 18 graduate credit hours in the field of Economics.

Preferred Qualification:
Experience at teaching a diverse student body is desirable, as is the ability to use technology to support teaching and learning.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

This position is security-sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215.
