The Graduate School of Education and Human Development houses five departments (Curriculum and Pedagogy, Counseling and Human Development, Educational Leadership, Human and Organizational Learning, and Special Education and Disability Studies), and runs programs at the Foggy Bottom campus in Washington, DC, the GW Virginia Science and Technology Campus in Ashburn, VA and at graduate education centers in Arlington, Alexandria, and Hampton Roads, VA.

The Department of Human and Organizational Learning (HOL) employs cross-disciplinary faculty with doctorate degrees in business, management, HRD, industrial/ organizational psychology, and adult education. We offer Graduate Certificates, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees in a variety of formats (including weekend and weekday) at the Virginia Science and Technology campus in Ashburn (VA), and our Main Campus in Washington, DC. Our Master’s program is the oldest in the Country and is globally recognized for its quality and rigor.  In 2015, it was retitled as the Organizational Leadership and Learning (OLL) Program. The OLL program is offered in online as well as in-class formats at the Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington DC. It attracts early, mid, and senior level professionals globally. In 2019, the OLL program was ranked number 2- among the top programs in leadership and management by BestColleges.com

In order to continue with the ongoing growth of our Master’s Program, we are seeking a VisitingAssistant Professorfor primary appointment within the Department of Human and Organizational Learning at our historic Foggy Bottom Campus (main campus) in Washington DC. This non-tenure accruing contract position is available beginning as early as January 1, 2022. It may be renewable for an additional 12-months based upon individual performance, program, department, and school needs.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a total of four graduate level courses at the Master’s level, (both online and in-person) in the Organizational Leadership and Learning (OLL) Program (emphasis on leadership, learning and change), perform operational leadership in collaboration with the Program Director, and advise Master’s students. Program operational leadership includes overseeing (in collaboration with the Program Director) the recruiting, admissions, and enrollment management functions, as well as overseeing the adjunct faculty needs of the OLL program. In addition, it is expected that the incumbent will address the administration and troubleshooting of student and operational issues as they arise.

Basic Qualifications:

All applicants must have:

  • An earned doctorate in Human and Organizational Learning or a related field such as industrial/organizational psychology, management, or organization science by date of appointment;
  • Demonstrated experience in program administration; and
  • Demonstrated graduate level teaching experience in online and in-person formats.
