Reports to the Student Services Coordinator, Senior at ASU@Lake
Havasu, and under administrative direction provides services to
enrolled students. Student services include international student
engagement initiatives, the residence hall, student activities for
domestic and international students, course registration, student
organizations, strategic student communication, events, and
programs to support student engagement and retention. The Student
Services Coordinator Associate ensures that goals and objectives
are accomplished through excellent customer service and in
accordance with established priorities.

01Essential Duties
- Provide administration and coordination of student services initiatives, in conjunction with the Student Services Coordinator Senior, in order to actively engage domestic and international students, foster community, promote holistic student success, and increase retention and graduation rates at ASU@Lake Havasu.
- Assist with supervision of student employees working in student services functional areas (i.e., international student engagement, resident assistants, student activities, etc.)
- Support administration of essential ASU@Lake Havasu events, such as Welcome Week and Commencement.
- Participate in strategic student communication efforts to ensure timely delivery of important information to students.
- Administer initiatives, programs, and activities to directly engage international students and support international student success and retention at ASU@Lake Havasu.
- Administer student services, including course registration, DARS review, graduation checks, petitioning, and information sessions, in collaboration with the ASU@Lake Havasu Student Services team.
- Stay informed up-to-date on international student policies and procedures, and collaborate regularly with ASU@Lake Havasu’s Designated School Official (DSO).
- Confer with students and provide technical guidance, problem-solving, and resolution.
- Work with the Student Services Coordinator Senior to support residence hall functions, including assignment of rooms, entering maintenance requests, performing health and safety room inspections, following up on student charges associated with residence hall and meal plans to ensure accuracy, etc.
- Support ongoing residence hall meetings with students and residence hall staff to develop a positive community environment and address issues as needed.
- Participate in the provision of crisis intervention, student advocacy, and student ombudsman services in line with ASU policies and procedures.
- Assist with the adjudication of student misconduct under ASU’s Student Code of Conduct, and work collaboratively with Educational Outreach & Student Services colleagues in Tempe.
- Support student services operations, including the fitness center, gym, and student center, as well as all student employees assigned to work in those areas.
- Develop contacts with students and encourage active student participation in the planning and implementation of campus programming.
- Serve as an advisor and provide leadership to student organizations in support of student success and student development.
- Support student organization recruiting, registration, orientation, and communication efforts.
- Counsel, advise, and provide appropriate referrals for students in need of professional services.
- Serve as an authorized driver for ASU@Lake Havasu, and use the ASU shuttle to transport students to events, programs, and the meal plan as needed.
- Represent ASU@Lake Havasu at community functions as needed.
- Recommend new or revised program policies, goals, and objectives, and present recommendations to the Student Services Coordinator Senior.
- Serve on various department and university committees as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years of administrative and appropriate program experience; OR, six years of progressively responsible administrative and appropriate program experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in higher education in one of the following areas: residence life, student activities, student engagement, international student support, or academic and/or career advising.
- Experience developing written communication for email distribution.
- Experience supervising student employees or professional staff members.
- Skill in organizing the work of self and others.
- Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills.
Working Environment
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse
- Frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
- Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
- Communicate to perform essential functions
- Frequent travel, both in state and out of state, involving the operation of a motor vehicle
