The Center for Innovation in Engineering Education is being launched in 2022 to lead the College of Engineering to new and innovative advancements in engineering education. The Center will have responsibility for leading the College of Engineering's innovation and scholarship in undergraduate engineering education and will conduct and sponsor research in the area of engineering education, develop and support the implementation of new pedagogical approaches and instruction technologies that enhances student's educational experience, embed leadership, entrepreneurship and communications development throughout the curriculum, explore lean principles in engineering education, support the design and optimization of classroom technology and use efficiency, assess the educational impact of the new practices on student learning outcomes, and grow CoE's reputation among students, academic, and industrial communities as leaders in engineering education. Center activities may also include providing oversight and management of core engineering courses and assessment of the educational impact of the new practices on student learning outcomes.

A core element of the Center will be the discovery of new knowledge and information to enhance the skills of faculty and instructors and provide instruction on how to incorporate new technologies and practices into their instructional programs. In addition to developing these new educational initiatives and practices, this effort will also be cognizant of the cost of the practice with the aim of implementing lean principles in improving the quality of the experience without significantly impacting the cost of delivery.

This position is the Director for the Center for Innovation in Engineering Education and is responsible for developing, initiating, and leading the programs within the Center. The successful candidate will provide leadership in Center activities described and coordinate with or lead several existing efforts focused on undergraduate education within the College of Engineering including the Collaborative for Engineering Education and Teaching Effectiveness (CEETE) program, NAE Grand Challenges Scholars Program, and Pieper Service Leadership program.
