The Special Collections Libraries (SCL) Instruction and Community
Engagement Librarian provides instruction sessions promoting
archival collections and SCL services both in-person and
virtually; develops community engagement initiatives through
fostering partnerships and projects with state-wide community
partners; and provides reference service and research assistance to
on and off-site patrons.
The SCL Instruction and Community Engagement Librarian is responsible to the Public Service Coordinator for SCL and works in collaboration with the SCL Department Heads and other SCL instruction and public-facing staff. The Special Collections Libraries houses three libraries: Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Richard B. Russell Library for Political Research and Studies, and Walter J. Brown Media Archives and Peabody Awards Collection. The SCL is composed of 18 librarians and archivists and 21 support staff. UGA Librarians are non-tenured faculty members.
