We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Collin College is a dynamic, fast-paced, high-quality institution of higher learning. As a member of the district’s external relations team, this role is responsible for building relationships with key stakeholders across the district and supporting the execution of strategic goals established by the Board of Trustees and leadership of the college, as directed.

Required Qualifications:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders of the college including industry leadership, business representatives, community officials, donors, and local government organizations.
  • Create and execute a strategic plan for the position to align with leadership’s strategic objectives and goals to drive key performance metrics for the role.
  • Connect community needs with appropriate college contacts to create opportunities for both parties in order to enhance key deliverables from the college to its critical stakeholders.
  • In support of student services, coordinate local industry employment needs with relevant college programs to provide job training, internship, employment or other opportunities for students.
  • Foster relationships with organizations, corporations and individuals capable of providing major financial gifts to the institution and coordinate with the college’s foundation and development staff.
  • Organize and lead community campaigns, and facilitate local leadership support, when necessary, in support of the college’s master and strategic plans.
  • Demonstrate ability to think strategically, be a proactive and detailed planner, and execute every detail successfully.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently, connect the dots, and effectively collaborate in a fast-paced environment, often without specific guidance on the “how.”
  • Utilize contact management systems and other reporting platforms to regularly communicate to leadership on initiatives.
  • Represent the college with high standards of professionalism and integrity in all respects, and perform all duties in accordance with college policies, procedures and core values.

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Little physical effort required.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher in areas such as communications, business administration, political science, marketing, or public affairs is required. Master’s degree desired.
Five (5) years of experience in community engagement through political involvement, public affairs or similar fields where relationships with key community opinion leaders is an expectation.
Three (3) years in a legislative environment where knowledge of key contacts and legislative process is required.
Strong communications experience to local audiences that demonstrates a deep understanding of community, industry, and stakeholder needs.
Comfortable learning new programs and fearlessly embracing technology to enhance communication with key stakeholders.
