Responsibilities

The Assistant Director assists in the management of Operations of the Financial Aid Office. He/she is responsible for the automation and development of the Colleague financial aid system and Informer reporting system.

1. Assist in management of day to day operations of financial aid office to ensure accurate and timely delivery of financial aid information to students, parents and the campus community. The Assistant Director works collaboratively with the Dean to enure federal and state compliance. Initiates, recommends, develops and implements office policy and procedures. Consistently provides procedural support to the professional and administrative financial aid staff

2. Manages the automation and development of Colleague system. Specs technical projects and works with external vendors to implement automation and improvements. Writes and updates Informer reports. Assists with documentation of technical processes. Acts as Colleague super user.

3. Review application data from students to determine institutional, state and federal program eligibility. Counsel students, families and general public on the financial aid programs and processes. Interprets eligibility and determine applicability for federal rules and regulations to individual cases

4. Works with Admissions and Registrar on data integration and data integrity. Acts as Destination Point Adminstrator (DPA).

5. Assists in the training of entry-level financial aid counselors on technical processes and procedures.

6. Stays informed on developments and changes to Colleague Student Information System.

Experience and Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree PREFERRED: Master's Degree

Experience: (years required and applicable field of experience) Three or more years in an area of financial aid or related field.

Skills/Abilities: (e.g. computer skills, written & verbal skills, trades, laws, procedures, technical) High level of technical knowledge of Colleague and informer. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Problem solving, accountability, mathematical/analytical skills. Sound judgement and prompt decision making skills. Knowlegdeable in Microsoft Operation Systems. Familiarity with financial aid data base systems.

Licenses & Certificates (e.g. CPA, RN, etc.): REQUIRED: KNwonone PREFERRED:

Other requirements: (e.g. travel, weekend/evening work): Required to travel and work some weekends and evenings. Required to attend Professional Development and recruting events.
