Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
-
Primary responsibilities include
Biorepository management, workflow and Biorepository customer
support.
Inventory management: Monitor inventory
levels, orders materials and supplies in accordance with
established policies and procedures, documents orders upon
receipt.
Monitor biospecimens for
distribution.
Working in repository: Will be shipping
biological specimens and cell lines to investigators at other
institutions (international/domestic shipments of biological
according to federal regulations), depositing and retrieving frozen
specimens from liquid nitrogen freezers, minus 80 degree freezers
and minus 20 freezers.
Will be helping in physical inventory of
the Biorepository and investigator specific specimen
migration.

Maintain accurate data records. Updating
of database and documentation in Laboratory notebooks. Maintain and
make minor adjustments to equipment, e.g. calibrating,
alignment.
Use various software applications to
assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports. Carry out
duties and responsibilities with limited
supervision.
Prepare Invoices for work completed.
Monitor Dry Ice and prepare Dry Ice
invoices
Will interact with customers of various
levels, including investigators from other institutions. Will be
held accountable to a standard in daily laboratory
workflow.
Will assist in CAP required maintenance
and reporting systems. Will support SOP driven methods and comply
with all CAP and ISBER guidelines.

As needed will assist with cell culture:
Ability to follow established procedures or protocols and utilizes
aseptic technique to maintain human and animal cells in culture.
Perform duties, including: preparation of media and tissue culture
reagents; sterilization and preparation of tissue culture
equipment; handling cultures; and propagation, maintenance and
special manipulations of cell lines (e.g. EBV transformations), and
cryopreservation.
As needed in cell culture: manage cell
culture for special projects. Manage inventory of shipping stocks.
Perform Quality control checks on shipping stocks. Prepare live
flasks for shipment. Prepare Fibroblast cells from skin
biopsy.
Assist as needed with other support
measures within the GRCF Biorepository & Cell
Center
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
- Requires Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Some related post-undergraduate work
experience preferred.
Additional relevant laboratory experience
acquired through extracurricular
activities
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Excellent communication skills and
ability to function well in a team production setting
required.
Punctuality, attendance, and ability to
interact with other positively/respectfully are
mandatory.

- Lift up to 50 lbs (40lbs for women), carry, move supplies, computers, glassware, etc.
- Ability to move about workspace.
