We are seeking aProcessing and Research Archivist who provides support for the Hopkins Retrospective Program Manager in several ways and will help establish a dynamic public history team within the University Archives. Components critical to the program’s success include robust archival research, mentorship for student fellows, development of programming (online and in-person events), diversifying oral histories, and creating interpretive signage and exhibits across our campuses. The initiative is also actively engaged in an effort to reexamine the history of Johns Hopkins, the founder and his family’s ties to slavery and is focused on providing support for several research projects related to racism and discrimination within the institution’s history.

Research:Responsible for conducting archival research within 18th and 19th century collections, creating document transcriptions, and offering historical interpretation of records found. This incumbent will creatively present research summaries and support parallel research projects, suggesting and providing records for exploration. They will use their research findings to advise and consult on Hopkins Retrospective exhibitions, interpretive signage projects, and other creative ways to present content to audiences.
Collaboration on Digital Content: The archivist will collaborate with a new Digital Content and Outreach Coordinator and the Hopkins Retro Program Manager on developing and curating social media content, website updates, and they will support other outreach components including events and programming.
