The University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) invites nominations and applications for Chair, Department of UMSON at Universities at Shady Grove (USG). The Chair is the administrative officer of one of UMSON’s five academic departments, reports directly to the Dean, and leads departmental faculty members in UMSON’s tripartite mission of education, research and scholarship, and service. UMSON at USG consists of 22 full-time faculty members and 6 staff.

Founded in 1889, UMSON enrolls more than 2,100 students in its upper-division Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Master of Science in Nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), and PhD programs. UMSON at USG offers the upper-division BSN curriculum, which currently has 360 students enrolled, with projected growth to 400 students, and the DNP Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) specialty, which has 74 students enrolled.

The University of Maryland Medical System, the Veterans Administration Health Care System, and the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services System are all adjacent to the UMB campus in downtown Baltimore.

USG, located in Rockville, Maryland, is a regional higher education center for the University of Maryland System.
