The Department of Nursing at Goodwin University is seeking a MSN prepared individual to serve as a full-time Clinical Laboratory Coordinator for the Accelerated BSN Program beginning in the fall of 2021.

Essential Purpose

Primary responsibilities will be teaching in the laboratory and clinical settings. The individual will assist students (and faculty as needed), to improve assessment and clinical nursing skills. This is a three semester appointment with time off at the end of each semester.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee the functioning and scheduling of all Nursing Skills Labs and Simulation activities
  • Design, implement, and evaluate simulation activities and educational materials for all nursing courses in collaboration with nursing faculty
  • Collaborate with faculty to provide consistent and relevant student learning experiences to meet the course and clinical learning outcomes
  • Assist faculty with skills and simulation activities, and revising elements of activities as dictated by national standards and guidelines
  • Contribute to the evaluation of students during skills and simulation activities, as well as on other occasions, as requested
  • Remain up-to-date in current simulation learning experiences
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies and equipment in the lab, and foster use of supplies in a fiscally responsible manner
  • Monitor and perform routine minor maintenance and repair of all laboratory equipment, including simulators, to ensure that all equipment is maintained in good working condition
  • Provide assistance to students if they are referred for remediation
  • Maintain accurate records of simulation and competency evaluations
  • Maintain documentation of the policies and procedures that pertain to laboratory and simulation activities
  • Teach at clinical sections/groups each semester as needed
  • Work with faculty and clinical coordinator to ensure the timely postings of all clinical information on Canvas
  • Maintain currency of all clinical information on Canvas
  • Coordinate VClinical activities with clinical instructors and students
  • Teach courses based on the needs of the program
  • Perform other duties that are required by the CNA
Required Qualifications
  • MSN Degree from an accredited institution and a current Connecticut RN Licensure
  • 3-5 years of medical surgical nursing experience required
  • Teaching experience with RN students is preferred
