This position provides routine maintenance services to the University school buildings as well as Residential and Commercial properties.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities :

  • Painting, drywall, minor carpentry and light electrical and plumbing work.
  • Minor electrical work (replacing lamps, ballasts, repairing equipment).
  • Moving (furniture, boxes and files).
  • Performs routine preventative building maintenance.
  • Flexible work hours
  • Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.
Other Functions :
  • Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
  • Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
  • Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.
Knowledge, Ability and Skill :
  • General trade skills (painting, drywall, basic carpentry, electrical and plumbing)
  • Ability to use common hand and power tools
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently
  • Ability to maintain proper schedules
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Good communication skills
Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience :
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Five years working experience in the maintenance or carpentry field
Special Requirements :
  • CT Driver’s license and insured vehicle
