Under the direction of the Simulation Lab Educator & Director
of Nursing, the Nursing Simulation Technician (NST) will performs
duties independently related to installation, maintenance, and
operation of Simulation Manikins for simulating medical conditions
and responses used in nursing courses.
The NST sets up, operates, and manipulates medical, multimedia,
computer, and other related equipment used for patient care
simulation exercises in nursing courses to create a virtual
healthcare setting. The NST works with the nursing faculty and
Simulation Lab Educator to facilitate human patient and
standardized participant simulated learning for nursing students at
all levels of learning. In addition, the NST will act as a
technical resource to faculty, staff, and students in all aspects
of simulation equipment and technology.
The Nursing Simulation Technician will have a strong educational
background to support Nursing simulations.
This position is assigned to the Visalia Campus, Part
-Time, 10 - month position, Tuesday - Friday 7:45 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.,

Job duties of the Nursing Simulation Technician include:
Maintains the Nursing Simulation lab in support of
instructional programs; installs, relocates, and provides
connectivity to existing networks as appropriate.
Programs patient care simulators, prepares scenario props, and
creates scenario moulage to model physiological responses to the
clinical and skill objectives and specifications identified by
Assists faculty & Sim Lab Educator with scenarios and
operation of simulators as needed.
Restores laboratory to pre-scenario conditions, after each
Installs, operates, and maintains updates, and repairs or
oversees repairs to equipment and apparatus as it relates to
computer technology and the simulation lab.
Operates instructional media equipment such as video cameras,
multimedia computer systems, and audio and video distribution
systems specific to the simulation lab.
Maintains inventory, orders, and stocks supplies, materials,
and equipment in the simulation lab.
Minimum Qualifications (Education
Any combination equivalent to:
Completion of two years of college-level course work and three
years of experience working in a clinical skills lab, simulation
labs, or health care environment.
Must complete of a human patient care simulator - training
program (within the first semester of being hired.)
- Experience programming, operating and maintaining a simulation
based medical learning system preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities
Computer and multimedia devices, business and education support
software, and terminology.
Banner, MS Suite to include Word and Excel
Local area networks for personal computers and connectivity
Web development, multimedia tools, courseware-authoring tools,
and other instructional technology.
Oral and written skills
Network typologies sufficient to support debugging unknown
variables when students or faculty report local or system-wide
problem with LMS and access to campus technology.
Utilize analytical problem-solving skills to resolve issues
related to human patient simulation scenarios.
Install, troubleshoot, repair and/or support the operation of
computers (PC or MAC), peripheral equipment,
audio-visual/multi-media equipment and networks as it specifically
relates to the simulation devices.
Work with Microsoft office programs - Excel, Word, Power Point,
and One Drive.
Work effectively and collaboratively with Nursing faculty,
Simulation Educator, I.T department, staff, and students.
Provide technical support and instruction to students and
Maintain confidentiality of information.
Give clear and concise instructions.
Take initiative and work independently.
Work in a fast-paced environment and meet schedules and
Develop and implement a maintenance plan for the equipment and
computers in Nursing Simulation Lab.
Procure, install, operate, maintain, and repair Human Patient
Simulation and associated computer equipment.
Learn the characteristics of new equipment and update skills to
adapt to changing technology.
