The Department of Music and Theatre at Xavier University is currently accepting applications for an adjunct instructor to teach American Musical Theatre I and American Musical Theatre II in the Spring of 2022. Candidates should be able to help support a diverse and inclusive student community.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Musical Theatre and professional performance or directing experience, specifically in musical theatre productions. Candidate should have extensive knowledge of musical theatre repertory and history, along with the experience and ability to coach/teach acting for musical theatre performance.

Contracts for adjunct faculty are issued on a semester basis. Additional courses in the Fall semester of 2022 may be available to the applicant who demonstrates successful teaching in her or his first semester at Xavier.

Duties include:
  • Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment in the classroom for students to deliver their best work.
  • Utilize Xavier’s academic program, Canvas, for course information and grading.
  • Develop an effective syllabus and course assignments/assessments appropriate to the course learning objectives for each class.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with our dynamic and creative team of faculty and staff.
