Position Description

The Department of Earth and Space Sciences at the University of Washington invites applications for a tenure-track position in sedimentary geology, stratigraphy and geobiology. Possible research areas include, but are not limited to: sedimentary petrology, sedimentology, stratigraphy, biogeochemistry, geomicrobiology and paleobiology. This position will teach core undergraduate courses in Earth history and geobiology, and more advanced undergraduate courses in sedimentary geology, stratigraphy, and geobiology. This position may present opportunities to incorporate fieldwork into teaching and research. Opportunities for collaboration exist with research groups in geochemistry, geomicrobiology, paleoclimate, planetary science, and surface processes; a record of interfacing with one or more of these areas is important. Opportunities for collaboration also exist with other departments and programs including the Burke Museum, Program on Climate Change, Astrobiology Program, Quaternary Research Center, Atmospheric Sciences, Biology, Oceanography, and Environmental and Forest Sciences.

This position will be expected to participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching, independent research, and service.
