Executive Director II

Under the direction of the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Executive Director for the Kean Wellness Center provides overall strategic and operational responsibility and development of the Kean Wellness Center (KWC). The KWC is in a period of growth and transition as the University embraces the understanding that mental and physical health and well-being is vital to student success and retention. The Executive Director will provide leadership and expertise in building a wellness model for the future while continuing the tradition of providing accessible, quality, low to-no-cost health care for the students of Kean University. Offices under the direction of the Executive Director include the following: The Kean Counseling Center; Office of Alcohol and Other Drug Services; Office of Accessibility Services; Student Health Services; and Peer Education. As the Kean Wellness Center continues to grow and expand, other services will be included in the Center as appropriate. The Executive Director leads and directs a collaborative and integrated model of holistic wellness that addresses the needs of a diverse student population through the provision of healthcare services that address the intellectual, physical, emotional and social needs of students.

This position serves as a key member of the leadership team within the Division of Student Affairs. As the lead administrator of the Kean Wellness Center, the Executive Director provides strategic direction for a comprehensive portfolio of services, including outreach education. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. The Executive Director also responds to crisis and emergency situations.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, Psychology, Counseling, Nursing or a related field and six years of experience as an administrator is required. State licensure in a related professional field is encouraged, but not required. A Doctorate degree is preferred and can be substituted for two years of the required experience. Prior experience in college health services is also preferred. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills and experience with and a commitment to working with diverse populations.
