Job Summary:

The Center for Dairy Research is the largest dairy foods research program in the US. The CDR is housed in state-of-the-art facilities in Babcock Hall, including a new training center. Reporting to the Center Director, the Outreach Program Manager is responsible for the oversight and leadership of outreach and communication programs for the Center. Its outreach activities supporting the dairy/food industry are extensive and annually include around 30 short courses/training programs for more than 1000 adult learner industry employees. The CDR short courses are attended by food companies from across the globe. In addition to short courses and training (both in person and online on demand), outreach activities include industry meetings, research conferences and facility tours. The Outreach Program Manager serves as the leader in developing and implementing communications efforts including a quarterly technical newsletter, technical articles, websites, social media, stakeholder meetings, and responding to various media requests. This individual will oversee the development of appropriate communication strategies to promote the programs of the Center/University to various stakeholders. The position will supervise outreach and communications staff that help execute the training and communication goals for the Center. The outreach program manager works with Center staff and faculty, to plan and execute training and communications goals.

Bachelor's Degree
Communications, Marketing, or related field, and/or Dairy or Food Science with a communications emphasis.


At least 5 years of experience in a professional communications position, including stakeholder relations experience would be preferred.

Required Skills:
- Experience developing and executing communications and/or outreach strategies
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with diverse audiences
- Ability to work independently, handle multiple priorities, demonstrate effective time-management, organizational skills, and proactively problem-solve
- Supervision experience

Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with media
- Experience working with multiple communication platforms
- Experience with organizing training and workshops
- Experience with multi-media applications
- Market Messaging Strategy experience



Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
