Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the Director of Academic Advising, the Coordinator of Student Readiness will provide academic advising to a caseload of students and coordinate all aspects of readiness assessment and placement testing at the College. The Coordinator will collaborate with the Director and other advising leadership to conduct a regular audit of Academic Advising and Student Readiness Office practices, assessing equity for students from diverse race, gender, age, religious, and identity backgrounds. The Coordinator will serve as the Commonwealth's High School Equivalency Program Chief Examiner, coordinate office staff and schedules, and ensure compliance with college and statewide policy and procedures pertaining to college-level placement. With a global perspective and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the Coordinator of Student Readiness will be an integral part of the student retention and completion team. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  1. Serve as primary advisor to caseload of no more than 100 students including: conducting academic readiness, career advising, academic improvement, and transfer advising meetings with individual students; conducting proactive outreach to caseload; and, tracking individual meeting and student success data for caseload.
  2. Coordinate planning, scheduling and administration of readiness assessments and preparation workshops including academic readiness assessments, high school equivalency, proprietary exams (MTEL, CLEP, etc.), and Math and English refresher workshops.
  3. Coordinate Career Planning and Advising programming. This includes assisting Director of Advising in development of Career Advising Protocols; leading professional development activities with Advising Staff in support of the delivery of Career Advising workshops, group, and individual advising sessions; and, collaborating with the Career Counselor and Student Employment staff on the delivery of Career Planning programs (i.e. Internship processes, Student Employment Web services, etc.).
  4. Coordinate time/attendance and training of Student Readiness Office staff.
  5. Serve as High School Equivalency Chief Examiner including attendance at semi-annual meetings and maintaining open lines of communication with exam publishers and Department of Elementary and Secondary Education staff.



Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution plus five years of experience and/or training that includes academic advising, academic support, college-level teaching, college placement testing, or career counseling, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  2. Demonstrated experience working with college students from diverse race, gender, age, religious, and identity backgrounds.
  3. Excellent communication skills.
  4. Ability to work as part of a team.

Additional Information:

COMPENSATION : Full-time, MCCC/MTA Unit Position, Academic Coordinator (Grade 6) with annual salary range of $64,615 - $84,909. Actual salary will be consistent with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program.
