Job Summary

The Learning Assistant Alliance (LAA) is seeking a team member to assist in meeting the needs of a growing community! We seek to fill a position for supporting LAA clients as they use LA Campus software developed specifically for managing their institution’s Learning Assistant program. The LA Campus Training and Support Specialist will develop and lead training sessions for institutional teams of Program Coordinators, provide ongoing support for expert Program Coordinators, assess development needs, provide support for a range of users (students, faculty, and program leaders), produce help documentation, and participate on the sales team.

The Learning Assistant Alliance mission is to connect institutions to support the implementation and assessment of the Learning Assistant (LA) model with goals of improving educational experiences and access across the fields. The LA model started at CU Boulder in 2001 and has been embraced by hundreds of institutions across the United States and internationally. The International LA Alliance currently has 2465 faculty/staff accounts from 529 institutions and these numbers are growing every day. As the number and diversity of LA programs continues to increase, there is an associated demand for, and use, of LA Campus software. The LA Campus Training and Support Specialist will work with the LA Campus team and with a diversity of individuals, colleges, and schools to ensure that the software is implemented effectively and that subscribers’ needs are met, with the ultimate goal of improving educational experiences at the post-secondary level.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

LA Campus Client Management
  • Learning about LA Programs and leaders within those programs, who are considering or currently using LA Campus software; communicating this knowledge to other LAA team members to inform client relations.
  • Managing incoming inquiries about LA Campus.
    • Immediate response to inquiry.
  • Keeping track of timing and potential client communications.
    • Setting up meetings with potential clients but not running those meetings.
    • Communicating with LAA Directors when meetings need to take place or client outreach is needed (keeping track of timing between meetings and follow up and alerting that action is needed).
    • Provide brief weekly reports to the LAA Directors and other team members; update Monday boards to include status, date of last communication, links to email texts, and information about responses from clients and needed responses to clients.

User Support
  • Respond to inquiries and Help Center requests from students, faculty, and program coordinators.
  • Develop and post support documentation for students, faculty, department coordinators, and program coordinators.
  • Develop, revise, and use training materials for onboarding new LA Campus program coordinators in their first LA hiring cycle (4-part training module).
    • Refine standard training materials based on new understanding and experiences.
    • Customize aspects of training according to specific LA Program needs.
    • Run trainings with an expert member of CU Boulder.

Help Center Feature Request Organization and Reporting
  • Review help center feature requests, ideas/requests from Program Coordinator meetings, and coordinate and report monthly.
  • With team, identify high priority development projects as well as feasible “quick features”.
  • For high priority / frequent functionality requests, work with LAA Directors to identify who should be on the “core requirements + design team”; take lead on coordinating initial design team meetings; present team’s initial designs to technology group for feedback and next steps.
  • Sometimes, set up individual meetings with clients to know more about their needs.

Software Testing of LA Campus and LAA as needed

Sales and Marketing
  • Working with the team to prepare marketing materials and strategies for recruiting curiosity about LA Campus.
  • Coordinate meetings with interested potential clients.
  • Attend meetings with potential clients.


What We Can Offer

The annual salary for this position is $19,000-$23,000 adjusted for 37.5% time.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or similar.
  • At least one year experience using LA Campus to manage an LA program; experience working on higher education campuses; Management experience.


What You Will Need

  • Strong working knowledge using Zoom, cloud documents, websites, Slack, and other communication tools in professional.
  • Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, creativity, and communications skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, writing, editing, organization, and proofreading skills.
  • Enthusiasm for education reform and for the LA model.
  • Areas of interest: Learning Assistant programs, higher education, community organization, public relations, faculty development, community development, networking, software training, customer support.


What We Would Like You To Have

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or similar.
  • Three years of experience working on higher education campuses.
  • Management experience.
  • Applicants with master’s and doctorate degrees are encouraged to apply if they are interested in higher education reform as a career.
  • Experience with LA programs—working with LAs and Faculty.
  • Strong working knowledge of content management systems such as Drupal or WebPress.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel (when it is safe to do so).
  • Demonstrated experience with community organization.
  • Experience collaborating with and supporting faculty/instructors and in the higher education environment on a professional level.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, collaborative business environment.
