Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
To recruit, admit and enroll students who will perform successfully in the collegiate community. Daily contact with the public, including contact with professionals in all disciplines of the university, is involved. Telephone contact also involves an accurate knowledge of relaying Admissions policies and procedures set forth by the University and the Office of Admissions. The office engages in a wide range of activities designed to publicize and describe the programs, activities and other opportunities available at UNCW .

Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Senior Admissions Counselor of Diversity Initiatives acts as a liaison to develop strong relationships with the Office of Institutional Diversity and Multicultural Student Organizations.
Duties include:
- Develops and coordinates programming for prospective students and families of color
- Determines the effectiveness of processes, programs, recruitment and services through comprehensive data-driven measurement and evaluation.
- Reviews and analyzes K-12 regional/statewide and school/district-based enrollment and NC Community College enrollment data to help identify target schools and assist with the implementation of innovative outreach and recruitment strategies and visitations
- Prepares quarterly reports detailing event and/or outreach activities, application, admit and enrollment trends and prospective student inquiry analysis
- Works to recruit and enroll first year and transfer students
- Evaluates first year and transfer student applications and serve on the Admissions Committee
- Travels to recruit students at high schools, college fairs, community colleges and community events
- Meets and communicates effectively with students, parents, high school counselors, alumni & student volunteers and faculty.
- Applies related policies and regulations of the UNC System, UNCW, and the Office of Admissions
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Graduation from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred education, professional skills and experience
- Master’s degree in higher education administration, college student personnel, intercultural studies or a related field
- At least one year of experience working with diverse groups of people and coordinating programs
Required Certifications or licensure
Valid Driver’s License required
