Assistant Professor in Product Development

Applications and nominations are invited for the Assistant Professor tenure-track position of Product Development (PD), Department of Design and Merchandising at Colorado State University. This is a nine-month position, salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. The successful applicant will have a strong, collaborative work ethic, a willingness to serve in a variety of roles as needed. and dedication to the mission of the Department and College.

We define apparel/soft goods product development as, the end-to-end development process to produce apparel and/or textile-based products. This includes developing product specifications and technical details, developing or recommending new construction techniques, materials, processes, and samples used to create innovative and technical products, ensuring execution of fit through clear analysis, documentation, and communication, and rolling up costs and margins to develop pricing architectures appropriate for the product and the marketplace. 

This hire will allow the PD concentration to establish greater breadth and depth with respect to curriculum development, student learning, research, and industry engagement as the department strives to strategically build expertise in sustainability, adaptive clothing, and outdoor apparel. The successful candidate will provide new expertise in one or more of the following areas: outdoor product design and manufacturing, knitwear, human factors, CAD/3D technology, and/or rapid prototyping.
