Miami Dade College, Eduardo J. Padron Campus is now accepting applications for a Director Access Services.  The Director is responsible for the overall operation and management of ACCESS (Disability Services) to include hiring, supervising, and evaluating personnel, preparing, and maintaining budgets, and overseeing the provision of auxiliary aids, services, and program modifications for students with disabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that ACCESS maintains an accessible and inclusive environment that welcomes students with disabilities and provides them with clear information and accessible materials in various formats so they may have the tools to make important educational decisions
  • Provides leadership for the ACCESS staff in developing services for eligible students on a case-by-case basis
  • Recommends learning strategies, adaptive/assistive technology, curriculum modifications and special test modifications to assist students with disabilities
  • Collaborates with faculty to address program modification alternatives as well as integrate principles of universal instructional design to reduce need for exceptional aids and services
  • Maintains knowledge of current adaptive/assistive technology, software as well as on-line educational materials and works with the Campus to ensure availability to students
  • Serves as a member of the College-wide ACCESS Committee to address college-wide issues as well as present student requests for substitutions and waivers
  • Maintains partnership with high school transition representatives; as well as partnerships with community agencies that provide resources or opportunities for students with disabilities

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in education, counseling, psychology, or other related field and three (3) years of related experience; or  bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, psychology or other related field and seven (7) years related experience.
