This is a full-time benefits-eligible position. Inspects, receives, exercises proper handling, sorts and delivers incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and materials received at the Distribution Services Center. Delivers packages and materials within 24 hours of receipt or sooner unless oversized or over 50 lbs. Coordinates with Facilities, Planning and Operations Set Up department to arrange delivery of oversized packages or shipments exceeding 50 lbs. Picks up mail at scheduled locations, meters, accounts for, weighs all classes of outgoing mail and delivers to the post office. Sets up and operates labelers, tabbers, inserters, sealing machines, printers, copy machine, postal software, and package tracking software for bulk/campus mailings. Coordinates with freight carriers to ensure timely and accurate shipments including document preparation, control and filing activities. Resolves shipment issues and communicates with internal customers and external vendors and carriers about any delays. Addresses customer inquiries in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction. Notifies property control personnel upon receipt of fixed asset purchases, which must be inventoried by accounting services.

Education & Formal Training High school diploma or equivalent Other Education & Formal Training Computer Skills Word-Processing, Spreadsheet, Other - postal meter software, package tracking software and shipping software preferred. Experience
1. Two years’ mail experience preferred.
2. Knowledge of postal and shipping regulations preferred.
3. Previous shipping and receiving, materials handling, warehouse or related experience preferred. Other Experience Licenses, Certificates, Registrations, & State/Federal Requirements of Position: Criminal History check, Driver's license, Missouri license required Other Licenses, Certificates, Registrations, & State/Federal Requirements
Forklift Certification preferred. Special Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge: Attention to detail, Communication skills, including oral, written, and/or nonverbal, Knowledge of a University environment preferred, Human Relations/Interpersonal skills, Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines, Maintain confidentiality Other Special Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge
Good driving record.
Ability to work with little supervision.
Ability to work under short deadlines.
Ability to memorize names and locations of faculty, staff, graduate assistants, and student employees and keep up with the constant changes.
Knowledge of Postal regulations and postage rates and ability to learn and retain changes to those regulations and rates.
Knowledge of best mailing procedures and when mailings qualify for bulk mailings versus regular mail in an effort to reduce postage charges.
Ability to determine the proper class of mail and the most economical way to send it.
Ability to account for express, certified, registered and insured mail and make sure it is signed for.
Ability to handle money through a postage meter. Specify sensory abilities: Physical & Environmental Factors: Excessive standing and/or walking, Exposure to extreme temperatures, Exposure to fumes and/or chemicals, Exposure to loud noises, Lifting (weight) - 70lbs.
