Affiliate Faculty of Literacy Studies

The College of Education and Community Innovation at Grand Valley State University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track affiliate position in Literacy Studies beginning August 2022. Qualifications include:

  • Master’s degree in reading, language and literacy, or a related field
  • Evidence of critical, reflective thinking about the teaching and learning of literacy and teacher preparation
  • Three years PK-6 teaching experience or PK-12 Reading/Literacy Specialist experience
  • Commitment to contribute to the Literacy Studies program
  • Demonstrated potential for teaching effectiveness in literacy teacher education
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with others with respect, empathy, and cultural humility
  • Ability to work productively with colleagues with flexibility and creativity
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access

Primary responsibilities include: teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Literacy Studies education, both in person and using online synchronous and asynchronous modalities; developing Literacy Studies courses for both elementary pre-service teachers and graduate candidates/practicing teachers; and advising students.
