The production/publicity manager, in conjunction with the academic chair, Musical Theatre coordinator, and department faculty, is responsible for the production of four to five musicals or plays each academic season. The manager is also responsible for all publicity and marketing for Performing Arts Department.

The Department of Performing Arts at SUNY Cortland is dedicated to providing young artist/scholars seeking to pursue a career in the Musical Theatre the skills needed to succeed in the professional theatre, combine with a well-balanced, liberal Arts education. Students receive training in all three primary disciplines; music, theatre and dance, working with professional theatre artists in a rigorous academic and studio environment. Major Responsibilities
*Manage administrative tasks, including budget management for production season
• Coordinate and manage all student production crews
• Supervise the box office manager and ensure effective box office protocols
• Create and implement marketing campaigns working with internal and external constituents for coordinating public relations for the season and Musical Theatre program
• Manage all social media content, maintain and implement social media strategies, including having an active social media presence at all times
• Manage all publicity and logistics for the annual Senior Showcase in NYC
• Obtain all graphics for publicity/marketing for the season and Performing Arts Department ‘brand’; secure all marketing materials
• Initiate and manage all contracts (in cooperation with business office)
• Obtain licensing and rehearsal materials for all department theatre productions
• Participate in weekly department meetings and lead production meetings
• Supply /approve all press releases pertaining to the department and productions
• Research new areas/platforms for outreach to recruit for the musical theatre program Functional and Supervisory Relationships
Reports to academic department chair of Performing Arts Department

Supervises box office manager, student workers, and part time technical support staff.

Required Qualifications
BFA /BA in Theatre,Dance, Music or Communications

Work Experience:
Performing Arts/Arts Administration/Management
Public Relations
Publicity using social media as marketing tool

Experience working with a diverse community

Preferred Qualifications
MFA /MA in Performing Arts Management or Theatre Management

Work Experience:
As production manager in a collegiate theatre/performing arts program
As a Performing Arts administrator in professional theatre
Promoting diversity, equity and inclusion or multicultural programs
Graphic design

Demonstrated success:
Promoting a performing arts venue and/or institution effectively
With social media campaigns
