DePauw University - Assistant Professor of Computer Science (Tenure-track)

The Department of Computer Science at DePauw University invites applications for a tenure-track position beginning in August 2022. We seek a colleague to join us in our commitment to inclusive excellence. The department seeks to increase the success of all underrepresented groups in computer science. A Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field is preferred; a candidate currently pursuing a doctoral degree will be considered.

The position is open to any specialty, and teaching responsibilities include courses at all levels of the curriculum -- introductory courses CSC 121 (Computer Science I) and CSC 122 (Data Structures); intermediate courses CSC 231 (Computer Systems), CSC 232 (Object-Oriented Software Development), CSC 233 (Foundations of Computation), and CSC 240 (Writing in Computer Science); and upper-level courses according to specialty. Candidates should be dedicated to strong undergraduate teaching, have a commitment to the liberal arts, and possess the desire to engage undergraduate students in research and professional activities. The teaching assignment is 3 courses per semester and a 0.5 credit extended studies course every three years. Course reassigned time is available through various faculty development programs.

Candidates should submit the following materials through Interfolio (https://apply.interfolio.com/97630) a cover letter, a statement of teaching philosophy, curriculum vitae, three confidential letters of recommendation, transcripts, and a statement outlining a research plan that is inclusive of undergraduate students. In their application materials, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to pedagogies that enable all students to reach their full potential, speak to their capacity to foster engagement with a diversity of ideas and experiences, discuss their interest in helping build community and outreach programs in the department, and illustrate their ability to promote a diverse and inclusive environment both in the classroom and at the University more broadly. Questions may be directed to the search chair, Scott Thede, by emailing sthede@depauw.edu. Review of applications begins November 8 and will continue until the position is filled.
