Job Summary/Basic Function
• Prepare, administer and analyze Pre and post-test in order to determine the level of participants’ competency and develop appropriate materials in the subject area.
• Ability to teach one of the following classes: Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Foreign Language, Science to CSU Upward Bound participants.
• Develop appropriate lesson plans to assist bright and talented, but often under motivated high school students in obtaining the necessary skills to succeed in college.
• Be responsible for using a wide variety of motivational techniques and submit records and documentation as required by the Federal Government.
• The instructor is expected to prepare a course syllabus for the entire term, explaining course goals, objectives, procedures and outline.
• All classes should be designed to deal with students at different ability levels.
• Instructor is expected to attend some evening and weekend cultural and recreational activities.
• Ability to deliver class virtually with the use of technology such as Google Classroom, TEAMS, ZOOM, etc.
• Maintain a daily attendance list.
• Submit final grades by due date (end of summer camp)
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Foreign Language, Science. Ability to deliver class virtually with the use of technology such as Google Classroom, TEAMS, ZOOM, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree preferred
• Experience with Upward Bound Program or U.S. Department of Education TRIO Programs.
